That is so true! Did you know that due to various types of projectiles of guns, it is often inaccurate to refer to a particular product as bullet proof? Why? This would imply that it will protect the wearer against any and all threats. What is preferred today is the term bullet resistant. Because it is a fact that not all bullet proof vests can protect you from any bullets, a standard is made by all body armors. There are so many ammunitions and these vary. Type I – this body armor will protect the wearer agains a .22 long rifle lead round nose bullets at a velocity of 239 m/second and .380 full metal jacket round nose bullets at a velocity of 322 m/s. 2. Type IIA – aside from providing protection from the threats mentioned in Type I, here are the list of guns that you can get protected when you buy this armor. a. 9x19 mm Parabellum Full Metal Jacketed Round Nose bullets at a velocity of 373 m/second. b. .40 S&W Full Metal Jacketed bullets a velocity of 352 m/second c. .45 ACP Full Metals Jacketed bullets at a velocity of 275 m/sec 3. Type II – protects the wearer from .357 Magnum Jacketed Soft Point bullets at a velocity of 436 m/second. All ammunition in type I and tpe IIA are already included in this type of body armor. 4. Type IIIA – this armor protects the wearer from .357 SIG and .44 Magnum Semi Jacketed Hollow Point. 5. Type III – this protects the wearer from rifles and those ammunitions from type I to type IIIA. 6. Type IV – conditioned armor that protects against armor piercing rifle. |
